LAMDA History
LAMDA is one of the UK's oldest and most respected London Drama Schools and awarding bodies. LAMDA have been offering practical exams in communication & performance subjects for over 130 years.
A LAMDA exam is the speech & drama equivalent of a music grade. Like music grades, LAMDA exams go up in grades and culminate at Grade 8 (Gold Medal).
LAMDA qualifications are Ofqual recognised and have helped hundreds of thousands of candidates of all ages and abilities develop lifelong skills.
LAMDA exams are about achievement, recognising and rewarding the endeavours of each individual - but they are also about empowerment. The ultimate aim is to provide all people with the opportunity to develop the life skills they need to be a success!
So whether it's a journey to improve self confidence, communicate clearly, improve reading skills, host meetings & presentations, acting or performing - LAMDA offers a qualification for everyone. Regardless of age, ability, experience, culture or background.
LAMDA qualifications can transport the latest budding performer on a focussed journey to the entertainment industry but equally, LAMDA can really benefit those requiring a simple confidence boost. LAMDA is also proving popular for children with additional needs. However, qualifications are not exclusive for children. Literally, there are no age restrictions!
LAMDA Qualifications
LAMDA examinations are rooted in encouraging learners of all ages to develop a love of literature, poetry & drama and therefore improve standards of communication through the spoken word.
Self confidence will grow and empower the learner to achieve their goals. Examinations are open to all and there is no requirement to begin at Entry Level. You may be looking to gain confidence in performance, speech, or communicate better at work or college - or simply looking for a new challenge! Exams can be completed in any order, although it's necessary to ensure you are entered at the correct level and scene selections choices, when teaching children, are age-appropriate.

Jules Martin
Professional Actor & Teacher
Jules is an East London/Essex based professional actor who graduated from 'The Birmingham School of Speech & Drama' in 1995. She quickly gained full Equity & Spotlight membership and began her acting career performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
A variety of work opportunities enabled Jules to gain valuable experience in all aspects of performing, including Theatre-in-Education tours, local Rep, Pantomimes and performances on the London Fringe.
To further her training and qualifications, Jules gained a PGCE in Drama from Middlesex University in 1998, giving her QTS and extensive teaching experience.
