Communications Syllabus

Lamda Graded Examinations

Lamda graded examinations under the Communications Syllabus are designed to develop the necessary skills for effective oral communication of the written word, to enable learners to recite for performance and deliver for public presentations.

The examinations on offer are: Public Speaking, Verse & Prose and Reading for Performance.

From entry level to medal level (Grades 6 -8) these are Ofqual recognised qualifications; allowing Bronze, Silver and Gold learners to achieve potential UCAS points.

All of the examinations within this syllabus are excellent for those practising for job interviews, university or work based presentations.

Public Speaking

Designed to develop the learners skill in public presentations, successfully written speeches and enhanced confidence levels.

Learners are required to select, structure and shape ideas into a creative speech, understanding their target audience and achieving their objective.

Learners will become highly skilled in vocal modulation, projection, non verbal communication, impromptu speaking and audience engagement.

Speaking Verse & Prose

Designed to enable learners to develop a wide range of skills in verse & poetry speaking. There are lots of opportunities to explore vocal presentation and a physical response to the text. Performing chosen selections from memory and demonstrating an understanding of the material, whilst engaging an audience. Sight reading skills are learnt within the higher grades as well as vocal modulation techniques.

Reading For Performance

Designed to ensure learners develop a range of skills in reading aloud to an audience. Learners will perform recitals and readings, linked to themes.

Presentations, reading with fluency, audience awareness and vocal modulation are just some of the skills covered within these examinations.
